Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) has earned the 2025 ENERGY STAR for Industry Certification Award from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). The award recognizes HCM facilities as among the most energy-efficient in Canada, earning the top score through energy savings, GHG savings and NRCan's program engagement criteria.
"All of us at Honda of Canada Mfg. are excited and proud to receive the ENERGY STAR Award recognition for our passion in conservation and energy savings. We are focused on making a positive environmental impact in all aspects of our manufacturing operations," said Julia Goebel, Environmental Group Leader, HCM. "Striving to meet our decarbonization and resource circularity goals by 2050 inspires us to undertake environmental initiatives at HCM."
"I offer my congratulations to this year's ENERGY STAR Canada award recipients. ENERGY STAR certified products, homes, buildings, and industrial facilities do the important work of improving energy efficiency and increasing affordability for Canadians," said the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
Honda is working to reduce its environmental impact in three critical action areas: decarbonization across all products and operations, using 100% carbon-free energy and using 100% sustainable materials, and the goal of achieving zero industrial water intake and zero industrial waste.
HCM is dedicated to reducing its environmental footprint from manufacturing and our recent activities have focused on using energy efficiently and reducing our GHG emissions. Some of these activities include optimizing equipment operation, upgrading lighting to LED, installation of ground and air source heat pumps, and fuel switching from natural gas to electricity for equipment such as tow motors and regenerative thermal oxidizers. HCM is also utilizing renewable energy through on-site solar powered lights and renewable energy credits (RECs) from virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) for wind and solar energy.
This marks the first year that NRCan is awarding the ENERGY STAR for Industry Certification Award. For more information about NRCan's ENERGY STAR Certification for industrial facilities, please visit natural-resources.canada.ca/energy-efficiency/energy-star/industry/energy-star-industry.
